Mock BCA Admission Test Site
The Motivation
I wanted to help myself and my middle school friends practice under realistic Bergen County Academies (BCA) exam constraints without relying on expensive prep software. I realized I could use my coding skills to solve a real-world student need by building a web application that simulates the testing environment, timing constraints, and question formats, allowing my peers to practice for free under realistic pressure.
The Process & Prompt Engineering
Using the Lovable.dev AI platform, I rapidly prototyped the application. Through iterative prompt engineering, I learned how to instruct the AI to manage complex React UI state, build smooth question navigation, and implement rigid timer logic. By carefully refining my prompts, I was able to build a robust interactive test app featuring three core capabilities:
- Timed Test Modules: Strict countdown timers that simulate the real 60-minute exam pressure and auto-submit when time expires.
- Instant Score Calculators: Automatic grading algorithms that provide immediate feedback summaries and correct answer explanations.
- Realistic Question Formats: Sample math and essay questions structured exactly like the real entrance test.
Using my technical skills to directly support my peers was a rewarding challenge that taught me how to gather user feedback and iterate on a product.
